What This Guy Did To His Front Door Transformed His Entire House

A man’s home is his castle.

One Redditor took this saying a tad literally by making the coolest DIY door ever. After his first attempt that wound up too flimsy, the size of the frame was so large that it would have cost him a pretty penny to buy a factory-made door. He had always wanted to try his hand at a medieval themed entranceway, so he figured this was as good a time as any. Check out his awesome project below.

Here’s what he was working with after first DIY door attempt.

To start, he cut and assembled the Tasmanian Oak frame.

He stained the door and added painted bolts for a medieval look.

On the other side of the door you can see the bolts sticking out.

Using a forge, he would make the handle out of metal.

By adding grooves, he could twist it in different directions.

Here’s the handle after heating and twisting.

He put a spike on the end of the handle and added a coat of shiny veneer.

The decorative metal hinges were homemade, too.

Here’s the door after they were installed.

I’d love to see a picture of the whole house, to see how this door looks with the aesthetic. I wish I had the skills to make something this cool.
