If you put a cat and a bird in a room together, left to their own devices, what would you get? Darwin would tell you that you’d get a pile of feathers and a very sleepy, satisfied cat, ready for a post-meal nap. However, it looks like the domestic life has dulled these cats’ predatory senses as well as the bird’s instinct to put safety above friendship.
