One Artist Reimagined Important Historical Figures As Weird, But Fancy, Hipsters

If you’ve ever wondered what famous world leaders might look like if they enjoyed today’s hipster fashion (and I’m sure that’s something we’ve all wondered, of course), look no further than the illustrations created by Israeli illustrator Amit Shimoni. 

In his collection Hipstory, Shimoni takes well-known world leaders and dresses them in modern hipster fashion, equipping them with bright clothes and spiffy hairdos, as well as some other modern touches like piercings and modern facial hair (which happens to look a lot like historical facial hair).

The portraits are rendered digitally, with care taken to capture the real historical figure’s face as accurately as possible. Shimoni also hipster-fied a collection of Israeli leaders.
