Kids have amazing imaginations. One minute, they’re playing house with pots and pans, the next they’re sword-fighting pirates, playing with twigs from the front yard. One creative dad, Redditor sinistersubterfuge1, made his adorable daughter a simple playhouse to fuel her imagination. Using plywood, he whipped up a split-level space, complete with electricity, in just 4 days. The basic design means his daughter can turn the house into a spaceship, a castle, or anything else she can dream up.
Even as an adult, I’m jealous of his daughter’s cool new digs. Check out his awesome project below.
Here’s the wood he started out with. Let’s see how he made it amazing.
First, he built the main supports.
He then set up the frame using clamps.
Next, he started building the stairs.
He attached siding to the bottom level.
The front of the bottom level has a cute, little window.
He added floor supports to the top level.
At the end of day 1, he had finished quite a bit of work.
On the second day, he disassembled the playhouse and brought it inside. He continued to add siding.
On day 3, he added a window and an outlet to the top level.
He worried that if his daughter fell into the wall, it would collapse, so he reinforced the walls.
On day 4, he added trim to the playhouse and flower boxes to the windows.
There are shelves on the inside to hold toys and games.
The finished product is adorable. And his daughter loves it!
