It feels strange to call anyone getting shot at “lucky,” but there’s no other word for this Israeli soldier. According to a Facebook post, the soldier was being fired upon by the opposition when he was struck by a bullet. Luckily for him, he had something strapped to his chest that kept him from getting wounded. Something I don’t think anyone would have expected to save a person’s life.

The grenade he was wearing caught the bullet that would have otherwise pierced his chest. Thankfully, the grenade didn’t detonate. This has to be one of the few times that a grenade was able to save a life directly, instead of ending it.
